Children’s Chapter books

“Chapter books” refers to any children’s fiction that is done in a chapter format, as opposed to picture books.  Teachers will send kids off to the library with the instruction that they are to find a chapter book.  All the teacher means is that a picture book is not acceptable, the child needs a book geared to their grade level/reading level.

Here are some books to consider!

Magic Treehouse series by Mary Pope Osborne.

Saint Training by Elizabeth Fixmer, 2010.

Chasing Vermeer, The Wright Three, and The Calder Game by Blue Balliet

My Father’s Dragon series by Ruth Stiles Gannett

Bindi Babes, Bollywood Babes, and Bhangra Babes by Narinder Dhami

Artemis Fowl series by Eoin Colfer

The Extraordinary Adventures of Ordinary Boy by William Boniface (highly recommended by my 15 year old son)

Mystery books by John Bellairs…spooky, but not over the top!

I will be adding  other books as I think of them and new books as they come out!  See also the “Bookplace” Link to your left.  Miss Michelle does a much better job at keeping current! (I promise to do better…)
